Provider of poultry keeping courses, copy writer, product development

Guidance, enthusiasm and affection, developed from a lifetime of keeping, watching, nurturing and admiring chickens

I have been working with chickens for what seems like forever, having grown up around livestock. My work ranges from teaching Beginner’s and Advanced Chicken Keeping Courses, to writing articles and creating videos for poultry publications, YouTube channels, poultry shops and livestock nutrition companies, including AMTRA, Nettex Poultry, and Natural Animal Feeds (NAF). Along with advising on online poultry forums
I also provide online advice for the backyard chicken keepers in the form of ‘How To’ videos and one-on-one support. Have a look on my videos page at a few of the chicken advice videos which I have created to impart helpful guidance on chicken care.
This website gives details of the services I provide, and the chicken keeping advice I give. Please contact me to find out how I can help with anything from taking care of your chickens, to improving your poultry products to bring to market.
All the best in your chicken keeping endeavours!

P.S. I am delighted to announced that my Advanced Course has been given accreditation by AMTRA (Animal Medicines Training Regulatory Authority) to train RAMAs and SQPs specialising in chicken health and welfare as part of their work in veterinary surgeries and licenced outlets.
Attendance on the Advanced Course awards them 20 CPD points.

My shop stocks only poultry products which I have personally used and think are brilliant, and so am happy to endorse.

Our Facebook Community
A Message From Stefan - a member of The Hen House.
This is hands down the best chicken group on Facebook.
It is the friendliest, most knowledgeable and, perhaps most importantly, the least judgmental community. That last part is critical, because it empowers anyone to ask questions - and this ultimately benefits the welfare of our livestock and pets.
On reflection, I think that is in part through very good moderating by the team, but also self-sustained by a group ethos to better the lives of our feathered friends. I would now consider myself to be a fairly experienced keeper, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable commenting in most groups - I fear others who haven’t found here would agree, and hence may be missing valuable insight by the “hive” (or should it be flock?) mind.
Also, while I realise this is also a useful forum for advertising a product (shop) and service (courses) it never feels like the primary objective, and the advice never appears biased - again, I think because the admin, and the community itself primarily care about support and welfare, rather than power or profit. Nice (and rare!) to see these days. Good work.

Clare has extensive knowledge of poultry care. Clare communicates her expertise simply, coherently and with a great deal of love and care for the chickens and the backyard chicken keeper. It has been a joy to work with Clare.

A great introduction to chicken keeping delivered at a good pace and at a level that complete novices and those who are just starting out with chickens will both enjoy. Clare was funny, to the point, ensured everyone was involved and is a mine of useful information. I’m looking forward to my next course. PS the cakes were delicious.
